Week 24

This week I continued to research, as I have come to believe it is better to have a research informed practice rather than a practice informed research. Furthermore whilst speaking with some MA fine art students I heard an intriguing statement which I have come to appreciate greatly; "Let the scientists argue the facts, we artists will argue the possibilities."

This week I have continued to work on the infant artificial lycan sculpture. I decided to sculpt a partially developed organism to show that the transition from the human condition to the primal uncanny as of yet has not been achieved but is a possibility for the future. I haven't created the umbilical cord but I have left the hole for the belly button so as to attach  one later, one which I want to create from a rubber cable or wiring. So as to emphasise the artificial quality of this creatures gestation. I have plans to perhaps cast this sculpture in several other materials so that I can scatter these objects around the studios maybe the city so as to show the attempted transcendence of the species.
